Great piece. The Stephen King book on writing is still the best forme,by a long way.

Great suggestions, some are already loved like Anne Lamont , writing the bones and Elizabeth Gilbert. Others are new to explore. Thank you

What a great list Alex! He will definitely not lack inspiration to write something. I already marked something for you to take. Alongside this, in a slightly different way, I would add a book that I recently finished: The Pleasure of Finding Things Out by Richard Feynman. It's not really about writing, but about the way we think, research and marvel at many things, which in my opinion is very important not only for those who write non-fiction. It could also be inspirational for lateral ideas and placed alongside the splendid books you have included. Thanks for sharing!
