There are some things you learn only through crazy amounts of repetition.
Writing and publishing pretty much every day for years has given me a weird sixth sense, which is sometimes tough to teach.
Here are some uncommon tips for writers I’ve learned and applied for writing that tingles:
Think of yourself not as a writer but as an image-maker through words.
This means more texture, more detail, more showing, less telling, less vagueness, and more quirky scenes.
Until I did this, writing wasn’t actually all that fun.
Delete your first paragraph.
Your first paragraph is often redundant by the time you get to your second or third.
You’re still figuring out what to write and only just getting into the real action or juice.
Most first paragraphs can be chopped so the reader gets what they really want, quicker.
