How to quickly join the top 1% of online writers

One of the best things I did for my writing career was to dedicate myself to being one of the best in the world.

Now, I may never be able to objectively measure this achievement.

But the key thing is what this commitment instils in me.

I am motivated by this.

Every time I sit down to write, even if I’m feeling a little sluggish, I am lifted by this little pact I have made with myself.

To be in the 1%.

To be the best at what I do.

To be an innovator and a leader.

To write in ways no one has seen before.

Man, that’s juicy. That’s fun.

This is the kind of identity you want to play in. No matter what stage you’re in.

Go big and you will be big.

Here are some more ideas for truly living that 1% writer’s life:

• Decide to be part of the writing 1%. Now act the part.

• Write and share at least 500 words per day.

• Make peace with the boredom felt when you sit down to write. Don’t escape. Be with it, and the discomfort will be replaced with insight.

• Get friendly with the top writers and ask them about what’s working for them.

• Meditate for 5 minutes or more before you write.

• Dedicate yourself to not only becoming good at writing but becoming a master in all aspects.

• Incorporate good physical health and daily athleticism into your writing. Your brain is your body.

• Become obsessed with your writing stats. Monitor your key targets like newsletter sign-ups, course sales, and daily views, and consistently seek to improve these numbers daily.

• Use frequent publishing to gain direct feedback and show you what is not working.

• Write more of the stuff that’s working well.

• Consume writing that inspires you for at least 10 minutes daily.

• Write brainstorm lists to inspire creativity and become an idea machine.

• Choose the best ideas from your brainstorm lists, not the first ones you think of.

• Set juicy monthly writing and business goals that excite you.

• Commit to doing things that most people wouldn’t believe you could do and set out to prove them wrong.

• Enjoy yourself.

• Win.
