It's the blessing and curse of the remote lives we life. This was why the last few years hit me hard because all my friends were in other countries and we couldn't see eachother IRL. That's when I realized as an introvert that I thrived with connection more than I realized.
Really appreciate this! I’m struggling to get started with my own substack, and how to make it look interesting during the scrolling is causing me to hesitate!
Thank you for the brilliant insight on crafting headlines @Mastery Den!
Your advice hit home, especially the point about how a great headline is the doorway to everything that follows. I’ve always felt that a headline can make or break a piece, and now, after reading your tips, I feel even more committed to giving mine the love they deserve. The examples you shared sparked some fresh inspiration, and I’m already brainstorming ways to hook readers in a way that’s both intriguing and reflective of my voice. Thanks again for the reminder that it’s the little tweaks that can make all the difference!
This is wild, Alex. David McIlroy reminds me of the earlier version of Alex Mathers. Of course you will become collaborators!! You can boost each other! David has youthful energy and daring that throws himself into every experiment, thought, and what if. The lesson you both show me, every day, is the same lesson I witness when watching tennis professionals--First, they are professionals and everyone in the tournament is there to win, no matter what anyone ranks them. Second, you only live once but you get to serve twice. Finally, in order to win the match or tournament, you only have to hit more than 55% of the balls. That's a whole lot of misses and faults that make up the total picture.
That's an interesting point, David. When a title feels too much like clickbait—especially those with numbers—I usually avoid clicking. But if it hints at the valuable insights I'll gain, I'm much more likely to click.
Really helpful, really liked this.
glad you enjoyed!
#4 is a legit question I can't be the only one thinking about!?
I know right??
meet up your social media buddies on a call, then in real life.
