Here's my question -- I'm writing everything and producing stuff like nobody's business. But I wonder if I'm doing too much, posting too much, handing out too much candy. Do I need to dial it back? If I just delivered about 100k words in a 35-episode serialized fiction in the last six months, am I going too fast? Should I be worried about readers keeping up, or should I just keep rolling. Because I have so many stories swirling around, and my WIP pile is insane.
Hey, absolutely keep writing as you're on a productivity run - continue to build these assets in the form of stories - go as far as you can as long as you feel energised from this work. Figure out a publishing schedule that does not lose readers. You can't please all readers, but follow a schedule that keeps your main fans happy without overloading them. If you have too much material, you can always schedule them to release later or more slowly, or on different platforms.
I’ve been having fun writing about my adventures since I quit my job last year. It does make a difference. Previously I would write about my professional industry (design and then automation), but I wasn’t excited about the topic.
Now, I’m having way more fun and it’s great motivation. I’m not sure how long it’s going to take and I’m sure I’ll eventually pivot. But I’ll take it while it lasts!
Excellent points Alex, thanks. I especially like not needing to necessarily be in a positive head space every time I write. As you said, elevate the energy as best I can and then get on with it. Don’t wait for a miracle in the form of the energy-bestowing fairy.
For me, I mainly write on things that I'm passionate about, and/or about my opinions and musings on various issues and topics.
Wise and practical points!
good to hear it Raveen, thanks!

I was surprised how many people write about getting subscribers as though that is the goal of writing.
indeed
I relate to much of what you wrote here Alex. Thanks for sharing.

Pivoting and evolving is part of the process.
That’s a good reminder. I’m trying to take new adventures with that lens now.
Nice
