I worked in an office for two years in my early twenties and hated it.
The people were cool, but I didn't like how I couldn't be more creative and work on my own terms.
I knew I had to find a way to break free and create my own income.
I jumped into working for myself as a freelance illustrator when I wasn't ready.
I had no emergency savings but found a way to make it work.
After years of initial struggle to create sustainable income, I am making things work, and I love what I do.
One thing that works well for me is something few talk about.
People are struggling to find buyers and customers because they can't differentiate.
They aren't resonating with their buyers.
AI and heavy competition online means people are struggling to be seen and to sell products.
The answer lies in understanding how to weave your story into your work and brand image.
You need to show people who you are and that you are human.
This stuff really works.
When I sell a new coaching package, the easiest sale comes from a client that tells me this:
'Alex, I loved your story. It really connected with me. I knew I had to work with you. You're not like the others out there.'
You get it?
The masters of sales in the upcoming next phase of online business and coaching will be the storytellers.
They tell stories, share their past struggles, and telegraph what they believe in.
They do this because showing who you are is what attracts your tribe.
And tribes will buy what you sell.
What story are you telling?
Yours,
Alex

That's the primary reason I don't like the corporate work place — I can't be more creative and some fun is squashed to stay professional. I get some rules need to exist. Some I don't get though.
Unfortunately, the corporation it still stuck in the machine metaphor of efficiency, productivity and performance. When the reality is that most places need lightness, creativity, exploration.
No wonder so little (true, step change) innovation has truly happened in the last few decades.
Love how you ended the post -- I agree with you, and it’s good to realize how storytelling continues to be what brings us together. For better or worse.
