Coming of age is a natural way to help build resilience. I have noted this especially after I celebrated my 50th birthday and the following years.

Practical wisdom in this post, Alex!

I love how you emphasize humor and light-heartedness as key elements of resilience—showing that even tough moments can offer lessons and laughter. It’s an empowering message that encourages growth without being overly harsh or serious.

Thanks a lot for sharing it!

Love this so much! Resilience might be my word of the year! Especially this: “You see that most of your stresses and struggles are self-generated in your mind.” Ooooffff! Huge lesson here⭐️⭐️⭐️🙏

Ok so I totally get & appreciate all of this but, I've been reading a few things here and there and it's making me question this resilience. Not sure how to articulate this correctly, but is the state of the world and the actions of people in power so bad that they tell us to build up resilience as a cover for their bad decisions? If that makes sense, what do you think?

Good question. Real resilience is not dependent on what happens in the world. If it was, we'd have no resilience. We'd be up and down depending on the economy, the weather, and other people's choices. Real resilience emerges when we set aside this kind of conditional happiness.

Yeah ok that makes sense. And so if we can be resilient in this way I guess it frees up space to see what our next steps should be and what to pay attention to. Therefore, those external interruptions will be clearer to see and not as damaging.
